Timing & Points Overview


- Part 1 – Warm-up: 2 minutes → 20 points

- Part 2 – Picture-based task: 2 minutes → 25 points

- Part 3 – Role-play (Organizing a Party): 3 minutes → 35 points

- Part 4 – Personal Questions: 1 minute → 20 points


Total: 8 minutes, 100 points



PART 1 – Warm-up (2 minutes – 20 points)


Purpose: Relax student, check basic speaking.


Ask 4–5 questions only (stop after about 2 minutes):


Choose from:

1. What is your name?  

2. How old are you?  

3. Tell me about your family.  

4. What do you usually do after school?  

5. Do you like parties? Why / Why not?  

6. What is your favourite celebration?  

7. Who do you usually celebrate with?  


Scoring (20 points):


- 0–5: Very limited answers, many pauses, mostly single words.  

- 6–10: Short phrases, some hesitation, limited detail.  

- 11–15: Generally clear, uses simple sentences, some detail.  

- 16–20: Clear, mostly fluent for level, answers with some detail and confidence.



PART 2 – Picture-based Task (2 minutes – 25 points)


Purpose: Talk about celebrations and parties using a picture.


Give 1 picture.

Instructions:


1. Look at the picture. You have 15 seconds to think.  

2. Then talk about the picture for about 45 seconds–1 minute.


If needed, ask 2–3 support questions:


- Where are the people?  

- What are they doing?  

- What food and drinks can you see?  

- How do the people feel?  


Optional 1 follow-up question (time-permitting):


- Would you like to be at this celebration? Why / Why not?


Scoring (25 points):


- Content (0–10): Mentions place, people, actions, some detail/opinion.  

- Vocabulary (0–7): Uses basic celebration/party words, understandable.  

- Grammar & accuracy (0–5): Simple structures mostly correct.  

- Fluency & pronunciation (0–3): Generally understandable, few long pauses.



PART 3 – Role-play: Organizing a Party (3 minutes – 35 points)


Purpose: Suggestions, decisions, invitations.


Step 1 – Set the scene (about 20 seconds)


Examiner reads:


“Now we are going to plan a party together for our classmates.  

We must decide: the day and time, the place, the food and drinks, and the music or games.”


Step 2 – Guided conversation (about 2 minutes)


Keep it short: 1–2 questions per point.


A. Date and time


- “When should we have the party? On Friday or Saturday? What do you think?”  

  - Encourage: “Let’s have it on…”, “I think … is better because…”


B. Place


- “Where can we have the party? At school or in the park?”  

  - “Is that a good idea? Why / Why not?”


C. Food and drinks


- “What food and drinks should we have?”  

  - Encourage: “Let’s buy…”, “How about…?”


D. Music or games


- “What music or games can we have at the party?”


Step 3 – Invitation mini-task (about 40–60 seconds)


Examiner:


“Now please invite me to the party. Tell me:  

- what the party is for  

- where it is  

- when it is  

- what we will do there”


Ask 1–2 short follow-up questions:


- “What time does it start?”  

- “Who is coming?”


Scoring (35 points):


- Communication of ideas (0–10): Can make and respond to simple suggestions/decisions.  

- Functional language (0–10): Uses phrases like “Let’s…”, “How about…?”, “Would you like to…?”, “We will…”.  

- Interaction (0–8): Responds to examiner, asks/answers when needed, keeps conversation going.  

- Accuracy & range (0–7): Simple grammar and vocabulary used with some control.



PART 4 – Personal Questions (1 minute – 20 points)


Purpose: Free speaking, link to topic.


Ask 2 questions only:


Choose from:

1. Tell me about a celebration you had recently. What did you do?  

2. Do you prefer big parties or small parties? Why?  

3. What is your dream birthday party?  

4. What is your favourite party food or drink?  


Scoring (20 points):


- Content & detail (0–10): Gives more than yes/no, adds some detail or reasons.  

- Fluency & coherence (0–5): Can speak in short, connected sentences.  

- Vocabulary & accuracy (0–5): Appropriate simple language, mostly clear.
