Text 3 – Global Warming and Climate Change
Read the text and answer the questions.
Global warming means that the Earth is getting hotter. This happens because there are more “greenhouse gases” in the air, like carbon dioxide from cars and factories. These gases trap heat around our planet.
Because of global warming, the climate is changing. Some places become hotter and drier. Other places have more rain and storms. Ice at the North Pole and South Pole is melting, and sea levels are rising. This is dangerous for people and animals that live near the sea.
We can help by using less energy. We can turn off lights and computers when we don’t use them, walk or ride a bike instead of taking the car for short trips, and recycle glass, paper, and plastic. Small actions can help protect our planet.
A. Match the sentences (15–17) with the correct ending (A–D). One ending is extra.
